Silk Care Guide

How to protect the fabric that has dressed empresses for six centuries.

01

Hand-Wash Only

Use cold water and a pH-neutral silk detergent. Never use regular laundry detergent — the enzymes break silk fibers.

02

Never Wring

After rinsing, lay the garment flat on a clean towel and roll it gently to absorb water. Press, do not twist.

03

Dry Flat

Hang-drying stretches silk. Lay flat in shade, away from direct sun which yellows natural fibers over time.

04

Store Folded

Silk loses shape on hangers. Fold with acid-free tissue and store in a breathable cotton bag.

05

Iron with Caution

Iron inside-out while slightly damp, on the lowest setting. Use a pressing cloth — direct heat scorches silk instantly.

“If you spill wine or coffee, blot immediately with cold water. Do not rub — silk fibers weaken when wet and agitated.”

What to Avoid

  • No bleach or optical brighteners
  • No machine dryer
  • No direct sunlight for drying
  • No fabric softener
